Dainty and lightweight rose gold vermeil hoop earrings with freshwater rice Pearls.
The Pearls are threaded onto rose vermeil wire and hung from rose vermeil hoops measuring 18mm.
Rose vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with rose gold, and the hoops are stamped '925' denoting sterling silver.
The Freshwater Pearls are approximately 6-8, 4 and 3mm each separated by a tiny 1.8mm rose gold vermeil spacer bead.
The larger Pearl is in the 'peacock' style, a deep silver-grey with overtones of iridescent green and aubergine.
The two smaller Pearls are a light creamy peach with a lovely sheen.
Pearls have been used by man for over 4000 years - the earliest written mention of natural pearls was recorded by a Chinese historian in 2206 BC.
In ancient Vedic texts, the pearl is born of Earth's waters and Heaven's powers, fertilised by a flash of lightening.
Cultured pearls are real pearls that form inside oysters or mussels with the help of human intervention.
In 1893 Japanese innovator Kokichi Mikimoto successfully created the first cultured pearl.
Today 99% of Pearls used in jewellery are Cultured Pearls, as modern farming techniques mean they are both beautiful and affordable.
Pearls are thought to be a calming gem, and have long been associated with integrity, purity, loyalty and faith.
Pearl is the traditional birthstone for June and Gemini, the stone for the 30th wedding anniversary, and has been associated with love and marriage for thousands of years.
Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, these would make a lovely gift for a birthday, anniversary, Bridesmaid, Valentine, or as a treat for yourself.
These earrings measure approximately .75 inch (2cm), excluding the hoop.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in an organza gift bag.
