Luxury Christmas Stocking Gold Reclaimed Embroidered Curtain and Vintage Velvet

Stunning Christmas Stocking with a heavily embroidered fabric offset by vintage gold velvet. Handmade with reclaimed curtain samples and remnants of old curtains, this luxurious padded stocking will suit both modern and traditional Christmas decor themes. Elegant and practical, the generous size means you can fit in lots of gifts. One of a kind - each of my reclaimed textile Christmas Stockings are unique, and they each tell their own Zero Waste story. The brocade is from ILIV's Chalfont collection. Intricate embroidery based on a traditional Arts and Crafts motif in old gold, with hints of taupe, ecru and silver. The threads have a lustre that glint in the light, contrasting well with the matt linen-look background fabric. This glorious fabric needed to be paired with a rich textile, so I used a very old cotton velvet fabric for the mock cuff and the back. It is reclaimed from a vintage curtain and has a lovely sheen and weight. I offset the metallic tones of the embroidered pattern with a vintage braid trim in a dull gold, salvaged from an upholstery project, and a cream ribbon from my scrap bag. The stocking is lightly padded with quilt wadding, and fully lined with quilting cotton in shades of cream and red - both offcuts from my patchwork quilts. Approximate size 44 cm by 30 cm, plus hanging ribbon.
