About this item
A quirky and unique industrial/automotive themed table lamp made using a used motorbike engine mounted on a base made from a piece of salvaged wood. The cylinder head and barrel, from a late 1970s 2-stroke 125cc motorbike by a well-respected Japanese manufacturer, have been cleaned and painted black. I made long polished aluminium risers to hold the head above the barrel which has an E27 lampholder fitted inside. A 4W spiral filament LED bulb provides the light, which reflects beautifully from the polished aluminium risers. The lamp is controlled by a toggle switch fitted to a polished aluminium plate secured in the exhaust port and power enters though another polished aluminuim plate on the inlet side. It has been cleaned and mounted on a reclaimed wood base which I have sanded, Danish oiled and beeswax polished to give a lustrous satin finish. Power is supplied through 6 feet/1.8 metres of decorative, braided black flex with a black 3 pin plug.
