Handmade Boxed Set of 6 Art Deco Notecards

These cards feature fashion illustrations by George Barbier. George Barbier was born 1882 in Nantes, France and was 29 years old before he mounted his first exhibition. He subsequently became one of the greatest French illustrators of the early 20th century gaining commissions in theatre design, ballet costumes, and illustrations for books and haute couture fashions. During the 1920’s, Barbier was part of an elite circle from the Ecole des Beaux Arts nicknamed “The Knights Of The Bracelet” by Vogue magazine, largely because of their flamboyant dress and lifestyle. He also designed jewellery, glass and wallpapers, and became a regular contributor to the famous 'Gazette du Bon Ton' and ‘L'Illustration’ magazines. He died in 1932 at the height of his success.
