Just to let everyone know the shop will shut for Christmas on Sunday 14th December this year.
Please enjoy browsing and should you buy a doll she will be packaged in an organza bag. I have been given literally hundreds and will use them until they run out rather than let them go to landfill. Also I have been asked why I don't often repeat combinations of fabric with the dolls. It is because I tend to buy remnant stock where I can, tiny pieces of fabric that are too small for most people to use. So often I have only enough to make one doll. This is a new collection of dolls from my favourite fairy tales and nursery rhymes with the odd favourite character thrown in. They are little girls rather than the women I normally make. Each is a complete one off and while I will revisit the theme I will not be repeating the individual doll. So OOAK.
Persephone was the daughter of Ceres and when older she was captured by Hades, the God of the Underworld to be his wife. She spends six months below ground leading to winter and joins her mother in spring for six months leading to spring and summer. Her symbols include poppies and deer so this was the perfect fabric xx

Full description
This little doll is Persephone. She is made from quality wool felt with frosted glass bead eyes and curly blond wool roving for hair. Her facial details are hand embroidered and her hair is hand styled. She is dressed in an Acufactum print cotton called Deer in a Summer Field and it features lots of wild flowers and deer on a taupe ground. Her bobble hat is Tweed Felt Rowan Wool.
Beneath her dress she has broderie anglais drawers with tiny cotton socks and wool felt boots. Her petticoats are a taupe cotton dot with white tulle lace. Her wool felt cape is heavily hand embroidered with a folk art pattern of poppies, corn and cornflowers to both the front and back.Little poppy flowers are hidden within the cape lining.
Due to fine fabric, button joints and tiny details she is not suitable for children and is not a toy but a decorative item.
