About this item
FREE UK POSTAGE 'Shell Cottage' - a crescent moon shines down over a little house tucked away by the lochside, half hidden by bushes and foliage. This tranquil little scene is inspired by my love of nature and the Scottish landscape, and influenced by my love of children's book illustration and also my time working on props and sets in the theatre. All my dioramas aim to create an alternative little world within a small contained space, something I was fascinated by as a child, and which continues to capture my imagination today. The design comes from original drawings which have been transformed into pieces of laser cut plywood and mountboard. I paint each piece by hand and build them up to form 3d layers and set into a glazed pale grey wooden box frame, which measures approx. 11.5cm; the scene itself measures 7.8cm x 7.8cm x 1.5cm. Each diorama I make is completely unique. To show its details clearly, this item is pictured without its frame glass.

Absolutely beautiful, even moreso than in the great pictures of it. I've bought it as a gift but I am sorely tempted to keep it, or maybe I might buy myself one... Delivery was fast and it was well packaged. Very talented artist!
