Description

Each dainty little earring features a 7x11mm AA grade Pink Opal teardrop gemstone, wire wrapped and hung on 18mm rose gold vermeil hoop earrings. They are very lightweight and easy to wear. Rose gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with rose gold. The opaque teardrops are natural Peruvian Pink Opal, with a beautiful, rich, coral pink hue. Handmade in my home workshop here in beautiful Devon in the UK, these would make a lovely wedding accessory, a gift for a bridesmaid, birthday or anniversary, particularly an October birthday or 24th wedding anniversary, as Opal is the recognised stone for these. Pink Opal is thought to be a calming stone, bring relief from stress and anxiety, and assisit with self-healing. These earrings measure approximately .75 of an inch (1.75cm), excluding the hoops. Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza bag. Price includes delivery within mainland UK.

The birthstones for October and Libra are Opal and Tourmaline. Pink Opal is a variety of Common Opal, an opaque stone without the 'fire' of Precious Opal. The Pink Opals of Peru are highly regarded for their rich, saturated, uniform colour. It is a hydrated silica, meaning it has a water content of 6-10%, and should not be given lengthy exposure to sunlight as this can cause the stone to dry out and crack. In ancient Egypt Pink Opal was regarded as a symbol of hope, while in ancient Greece it was thought to bring spiritual awakening and connect the wearer to the Gods. It is thought to calm the anxious, soothe away stress, inspire empathy and forgiveness and balance the emotions.

Ear wires are stamped '925' to denote Vermeil.
