The inspiration for these Mother Earth Sculptures, comes from a common thread that runs throughout my work, continually exploring the often fragile balance between humankind and nature.
These pieces have been shaped and textured to give a suggestion of the landscape draped around the human figure, the inside having a cave like, sanctuary feel, colours and textures further enhanced with a crystalline effect made from glass fragments, melted into the base, conveying an overall feeling of peace and tranquility.
This art work has been fired to a high temperature making it safe for outdoors, can stand alone or be lit up with a small candle or used as a container for a small plant in the base, indoors or outdoors.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.

Full description
This Table Top Sculpture has been hand built from White Stoneware clay, using the ancient technique of hand building with rolled coils of clay to create the initial form.
This Mother Earth Sculpture has been lightly textured on the outside, often using found objects such as stones and wood fragments. Heavier, raised texture being hand made and attached to the interior, creating a contrast between the two surfaces.
After careful drying the piece receives an initial kiln firing. Layers of oxides, liquid wax and glazes are then applied. Fragments of coloured glass are also placed into the base, creating a pool like crystalline effect after melting in a high temperature firing.
This sculpture is 28 cm high, approx 14 cm wide at the base.
