Full description
This little bird measures approx 6cm high, 9cm long and 4.5cm wide. To make it I first modelled the shape then made a mould from it. I then cast it with white earthenware clay, when it is leather hard I carved out the feather marks, dry it and then fire it to 1060 degrees in an electric kiln. I then fill the indents with orange raku glaze and fire it again in a gas kiln, then I smoke it in sawdust in a lidded container, the unglazed parts are turned a black/grey colour, it is then polished with bees wax.
