This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
Thinking about the fantastic New Year's Eve Firework displays around the world I decided to make my own.
It's bright, very sparkly and very colourful. It also lasts all year round not just at midnight on the 31st of December. An added bonus is that it won't frighten any dogs or cats as it doesn't go bang.
I've used all the bright and rich colours of the rainbow spectrum with plenty of texture and streaks for movement and the lower part, below the fireworks, is clear iridescent with pink and purple and turquoise shimmers.
Each firework bursts into colour from a multifaceted crystal for extra shine.
I am delighted with this design. It looks superb in the window with the sun casting the vibrant colours which change with the light, and the crystals sparkling.
This is 5.5" in diameter and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.
It can hang in a window or just against a wall and it is would make a wonderfully colourful addition to any room.
I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure it is unique.
All photos are of the suncatcher for sale here.
