☆ all the seaglass and pebbles you see in my work has been used as found. Decades of rolling about in the sea has worked its beautiful magic.
☆ your item will be posted using recycled packaging, which isn't incredibly attractive, but it serves its purpose. And anyway, it's what's inside that counts. : )
Glass beads! I wanted to echo the natural colours of the sea, the beach and the shell (which I found on Eastbourne beach) with these beautiful faceted beads...
One of my first uses of copper, which is much easier to work with than stainless steel!
I made this especially for the 'Beside the Seaside' exhibition held at Chalk's Gallery in Lymington this summer.
I named it 'The Mermaid's Scallop'.

I named this 'The Mermaid's Scallop' when exhibited at Lymington art gallery in 2020.
A 6cm x 6.5cm flat, sea-worn, deep-salmon coloured scallop shell has been hand-drilled, and hangs from a handmade, 29 inch beaded copper chain.
That's long! But it is fully adjustable...no minimum length as the lobster clasp fastening can clip onto any link along the chain.
I have used crystal glass rondelle beads in threes, using colours to echo the sea and the shell, and also in colours to gently contrast... peachy salmon, soft pale green and turquoise, shell white and a soft, pale brown.
All the metal used is copper, which will darken over time....please bear in mind that copper is not hypoallergenic.
It will be carefully wrapped and sent in a lovely little drawstring linen bag, and posted using Royal Mail 2nd class 'signed for'.
