Green Chirpy Bird Hand Embroidered Wall Decoration

This piece is part of a collection of designs that have been drawn digitally, then printed onto fabric. I then embroider details onto the printed fabric. This piece of embroidery features a printed bird in vibrant lime green, with rows of stitching across his middle. The simple outline of the bird gives this embroidery decoration a modern feel, and it would look at home hanging on the wall or propped on a shelf. I have used a variety of stitch techniques to create detail and add texture to the printed linen background. Stitches used include chain stitch, running stitch, herringbone, leaf stitch, chevron stitch and french knots. Each row of stitching is a different colour which contrasts with the green of the bird. The embroidery is framed in a hoop measuring 19cm / 8” wide. The hoop is painted with pale blue acrylic paint, and the back of the hoop is covered with a card disc. It can hang on the wall using the tightening screw at the top of the hoop. The embroidered hoop art is wrapped carefully in tissue and popped in a sturdy card envelope before posting.
