About this item
A pair of pretty periwinkle blue glass drop earrings with a satin finish reminiscent of sea glass. The 2 layers of glass and the satin finish give these earrings a beautiful subtle glow quite different from the more usual shiny appearance of glass. This colour is also available as a stud earring, and do check out my shop for matching pendants. The fused glass rounds measure 12mm across and the earrings are 28mm long in total. The glass is securely fixed to silver plated bails, finished with sterling silver ear wires and presented on my signature card as shown.

I've always collected sea glass, and while shiny glossy glass is beautiful there is something special about the soft satin finish of sea glass. Imagine how pleased I was when I discovered that sandblasting and re-firing my fused glass gave it a similar look - but in any colour I wanted! I make the glass rounds for these earrings by fusing a layer of transparent coloured glass over a different coloured layer of opaque glass in my kiln; then I sandblast them and fire in the kiln again to get the satin seaglass like finish. It is the layer of transparent glass and this satin finish that give these earrings such a beautiful subtle glow quite different from the more usual 'shiny' appearance of glass.
