This apron is based on a set of bespoke aprons I designed and made for a fabulous ice cream shop in Camden, London. Each apron is crafted with meticulous attention to detail and finish. I pre-wash all my fabrics, to reduce the chance of shrinkage and improve colourfastness in the finished apron – it’s then line dried outside in the fresh air. The fabric is given a good press before laying out the pattern pieces and cutting out. Turnings are measured, pressed and stitched, thick turnings are soundly bashed thinner and smoother with a hammer, and all the thread ends are hand sewn into the garment.

I already had a lovely bespoke apron for my silversmithing, but I've used that one a decade and it's got a bit baggy. This new one is fabulous. It's really sturdy yet soft denim and 100 denim, so it won't stretch nor be a fire risk The pocket has already rescued a gemstone for me.
