These sterling silver opal earrings are 5mm in diameter and are set in sterling silver with sterling posts and butterfly backs. I love gemstones with flashes of colour as the light catches them, and opal is one of those stones - it shimmers with blues, orange, and greens depending on how the light catches - but is at the same time beautifully neutral. Opals are also the traditional birthstone for October, so make a perfect gift for people with an October birthday. But these earrings are always one of my most popular items for gifting at Christmas, as they're neutral enough to suit anyone and any occasion, but also just that little bit different and special.
