I have always wanted a jug which was sturdy enough to hold a posey of flowers yet neat enough to be used for milk- I could never find one- so I made one instead.
This jug has a rustic character yet is designed to be neutral enough to go with any decor. The glaze is evocative of a the waves washing over a shallow sandy bay.

Sandy Bay is a perfect jug for milk on the breakfast table yet also sturdy enough to hold a posey of flowers.
This versatile jug was thrown on the wheel in my studio using stoneware clay. When it was nearly dry it was fettled and the unique triangle shaped handle added. The jug was then left to dry for 1 week. I then fired it to 1000 degrees centigrade in my kiln. The glaze was applied, in a mixture of white and lagoon blue. The natural beauty of the speckled clay shows through, where the glaze is thicker a delicate blue hue can be seen. The jugs is then fired a second time to 1250 degrees C making it strong and durable.
This jug is dishwasher proof.
I don't recommend microwave use.
Dimensions (approx):
Height: 6 1/4 Inches, 16 cm
Width: 4 Inches at widest point, 10 cm
Weight: 1lb 10 oz, 750 grams
Made with lead free, dinnerware safe glazes.
Due to the organic nature of the clay and glazes I use each jug will fire slightly differently- making each one unique.
