I have turned this very unloved book into a new journal. The cover is beautiful, but the pages inside were unreadable, covered in crayon scribbles. But there was life in the old bookcloth cover , so I folded, sewed and trimmed some 120gsm cream cartridge paper, to make new pages to fit. Once sewn and trimmed, the new book was given a 'rounded' spine, a silk marker ribbon, striped headbands, and patterned endpapers. The old cover was lined with Japanese tissue, a strong paper used in book repair, to strengthen it. And given a clean and polish! The book measures 17.5 x 12.5 cm, is 2.5 cm in depth, and has approximately 96 pages/192 sides.

The title of this book-'Seed Time and Harvest'- appealed to me. I thought it would make an interesting cover for a garden journal, which would be suitable for writing and sketching. No valuable books were harmed! ( The bookbinder was a bit bamboozled though, as she usually makes a cover to fit the pages, not the other way round...)
