About this item
This seemingly ordinary chintz porcelain bowl has undergone a sort of experiment to see whether it is the same underneath as on the surface. This bowl was handbuilt in one piece from porcelain with slips, glaze and traditional high-fired decals and is 6 in diameter.

These pieces originally formed an installation set up as a lab experiment in progress, complete with scalpels, lab coats, needles and a microscope. Piles of discarded, cut-up craft objects lay about the desk, some with their innards seeping out, others rearranged, Frankenstein-style. By doing this, I was turning a table full of traditional craft objects into an artwork in its own right, it had a point beyond the technique, beyond the things themselves
