About this item
This mosaic is made using Venetian smalti glass (opaque and transparent) and gold leaf mosaic glass. I use "pizzas" of smalti (see photo) and cut and shape it as I work. The mosaic is 25cm (height) x 20cm (width). It is made on cement board and framed in a wood frame, ready to hang. Perfect to add a little sunshine to that small contemplative space, beside the stair window, or in that cosy nook beside the fire.

I wanted to make a smaller version of a mosaic I made called "Gathering Darkness" using the sun as the central motif. I also made a long mosaic with 10 parts called "Disappearing Sun" showing the gradual disintegration of the sun as the sky darkens and the birds take over.
