Full description

This handbound book would make an ideal gift perhaps for a man, someone who likes the sea, or who likes to travel... Perfect for notes, journalling, sketching, doodling or all your creative ideas...

This A5 (approximately 15.5cm x 21.5cm / 6” x 8.5”) book has 7 signatures with 70 pages/140 sides in total. Most pages are 100% recycled white 80gsm paper. The inside covers and the ‘cover’ of each signature are light blue. There are also several pages of co-ordinating coloured and slightly textured pages in paper and thin card. The book’s covers are made from 1000 micron greyboard and covered in blue mulberry paper.

On the front of the book is one of my photos, showing the view out of a submarine window as it went down into the sea. This has been distressed by hand and mounted onto a wash of blue watercolour.

I have bound the book using Coptic stitching, which is an ancient stitching technique. This kind of stitching is not only decorative but also allows the book to lay completely flat; ideal for sketching. I’ve used blue thread to bind the book, which co-ordinates well with the cover. The book is held closed with a blue, white and grey button that I’ve made from polymer clay. It can be tied closed with the blue ribbon.

Other features include a bookmark made with blue ribbon and a blue envelope attached to the inside front cover, so you can store any little bits and pieces that may inspire you to fill the rest of the book.

Your book will be attractively and carefully packaged before being posted 1st class (via airmail if outside the UK). I try to reuse envelopes wherever possible.
