I have been fascinated by woodland and wood for many years. Wood is so tactile, I have to pick it up and feel the warmth and texture.
My products are inspired by the woodlands of my native county. Craftsmanship of the past plays a big part in my creations, some of them being made using axe, knife, shave-horse and pole-lathe tools of a bygone era, making even the humblest of items a pleasure to own and use.
I start each day enjoying breakfast from a bowl I turned from Aspen on the pole lathe, eating it with a wooden spoon carved while sat in a wood.
The items I make, I want to be used. The finish i use depends on what the item is intended for. Breakfast bowls, Spatulas, Spurtles, Spoons, Salad Bowls will come into direct contact with food. I finis these in a simple food safe oil, the wood absorbs the oil preserving it. They can be hand washed with normal washing-up liquid and dried with a tea towel. A quick rub over every so often with your favourite vegetable oil keeps them in tip-top condition for years.
More decorative items, like fruit bowls and boxes have a beeswax finish giving them a lovely sheen and protecting them.
