A bit about me
I grew up in France but moved to Wales in 1992. I am a Mum to 3 amazing grown up children and a cat. I used to live in South Wales but now live in North Wales with my husband of 32 years. Wales is my adopted country and my heart country. I love this land, its people, the landscapes, the traditions.
I have always enjoyed being creative and making things even from an early age. I particularly like giving and receiving cards as they are a way of brightening someone's day, letting someone know you care, like a warm hug.. This was the inspiration behind the name "Toasty Hugs". I started making cards to sell in 2015 but stopped for a few years and have recently started again. Another one of my passions is taking photos and sharing them with others. Walks in nature, gardens and by the sea are always opportunities to see, observe and capture beauty. I find it to be a form of mindfulness, a way to restore calm and perspective. So, I try to get out of my house often, even if it is for a short time. Hardly a day goes by without me taking a few photos with my phone or a camera.
Finally, life would be a lot duller for me without plants and my garden. I love growing things inside and outside despite my relative lack of space. It is an other outlet for my creativity and definitely good for my well being. No wonder the NHS started issuing prescriptions for it!
About my cards
In my shop, I sell mainly cards, with little knitted jumpers, with paper quilling and photographic cards. The designs and photos are all my own. I get my inspiration from the places I have lived in, nature, gardens, the sea, cats and my Christian faith. My handmade cards are all made with carefully chosen quality materials and with love and care. Most of them can be kept as keepsakes. Knowing that time, energy and love has gone into each of my creations means they are not made to be quickly discarded like cheap mass produced items. My hope is that they can be enjoyed and kept for longer and maybe even framed..
I try to use recycled and recyclable materials where cost and availability allow and I also re-use what I can. I seek to minimise waste and will use left overs, scraps and odds and ends. I aim to shop locally as much as possible. I am concerned about sustainability and the need to care for our environment, not just in the running of my business but in my daily life. I feel we can learn a lot from past generations about being less wasteful and also about meaningful connections, community and caring.
Commissions are welcome so if you can't find what you are looking for and would like something a little different or customized, please message me.
