Unique and beautiful hand-turned wooden items

In my youth, I was an engineering apprentice, now my love of materials and processes has found an outlet in wood turning.
16 years ago, a good friend was selling his lathe and I bought it. With his patient tuition and inspiration, I learned how to make beautiful items – and a lot of wood shavings!
I am always looking for new techniques and ideas for things to make, so commissions are always welcome. I have made bowls and balls, pens and pedestals, walking sticks and wooden rings.
I am an active member of the local woodturning club and provide teaching and demonstrations.
I am really missing doing craft fairs and days out with the club and seeing how much people love wood – it’s so tactile and every piece is different – you don’t know what you are going to discover until the lathe starts to turn and the shavings fly.
It’s lovely to make personal pieces – maybe a tree has to be felled in the garden – what better way to remember than by having a lovely bowl made from the wood. One I did for a friend turned out to have a cross section of their old washing line embedded in the grain (sorry about the pun).
Items can be dedicated to friends and relatives by having an inscription put on the base by pyrography. Please contact me if you would like this done.
