About Michelle Corbin Design

Michelle Corbin Design

Embroidered Art using a mix of Hand and Free Motion Machine Embroidery and Applique, Handmade in the UK

I am Michelle, designer, maker and chief coffee maker at Michelle Corbin Design, as well as wife to Mr C and mum to 2 young Teenagers. We live in County Durham in the North East of England with our little Guinea Pig.

My interest for sewing came at a young age on and off, encouraged by my mum, but my passion for it came later....

Michelle Corbin Design was Established in 2010, following the births of my 2 children, previously a Hairdressing Lecturer and Freelance Hair Stylist, I decided that if I was to resume this career path, it would not be so conducive to a growing family and I was keen to be a 'Stay at Home Mum'.

I have always loved being creative and sewing was a big part of my life growing up. As a child, I watched and learned to sew with my mum, moving on to gain more confidence at school, where Textile Art and Textiles Home Ec, were my most successful GCSE subjects.

My love of Embroidery has developed over the years, beginning with Hand Embroidery and Progressing to Free Motion Machine Embroidery. Inspired originally to make Tooth Fairy Cushions for my Friends 2 Twins when they were 5, and later by my own children, I soon realised, that Heirloom Art was becoming a passion of mine and has progressed over time, developing new techniques and adding Vintage Fabrics and Lace along with Mixed Media to create unique pieces.

My aim is for my designs help you to celebrate Special Occasions such as Births, Christenings and Weddings. To add beautiful accessories to your homes or craft rooms in a bright, fresh and unique way, and to provide heirlooms that can be handed down from generation to generation.

I hope you like what you see, as much as I love creating them xxx
