Sewing patterns and decorative items for the home that are sew cute! - Crafty Girl Maria

I can't ever remember not being creative. As a child, if I wasn't sewing or crafting, (or playing with my Sindy dolls) I would be happily baking in the kitchen with my mum. My mum taught me to knit with a knitting Nancy, then using knitting needles, I would knit my teddies and dolls scarves and hats. I soon got into making soft toys, using kits, and remember loving my "make your own Care Bear" kit. My mum was always encouraging me, buying me books telling you how to make your own dolls and softtoys. I soon enough got my own sewing one Christmas.
I made my first sale at around the age of 10, making some Bramley Hedge characters, complete with clothes at the local church fair. I have always made my own curtains and blinds and love baking cakes, but life was too busy for me to spend much time sewing when I worked full-time and my children were young. However, now I am completely hooked on sewing and crafting again.

A few years ago I concentrated on making and selling items such as teddy bear onesies, jewellery, doorstops, cushion covers, aprons and noticeboards on eBay and local craft and school fairs. I have battled with repetitive strain injury in both arms the last 20 or so years, which does limit what I'm able to create, however sewing can still be done by those less physically able, you just may need to take more time.

I get bored of making the same thing over and over again and found that what this I love most is to create and design my own designs from scratch. I therefore decided not to make any goods to sell any more and, I decided just to create when the creative juices are flowing. I then fell into teaching after some friends asked me if I would take over teaching them after their sewing teacher moved to a different country and I happily obliged. I'm now extending out my services to the local community.
