Treasures in the window of my garden workshop, where I design and make silver jewellery amongst other things!

After leaving school I studied at Bath Academy of Art where I acquired a BA (Hons) degree in 3D Design. I spent a year at the amazing Tyn Llan Pottery, North Wales, working at the pottery and on my own designs.

The next 10 years were spent running a craft business making and decorating wooden furniture and travelling to agricultural shows and craft fairs.

After I had my son I did a PGCE in Early Years Teaching and I have worked in education ever since.

In between working, and bringing up my son, we travelled to many beautiful places...the Isles of Scilly, the Lake District, North Yorkshire, Northumberland, Devon and Cornwall and of course the Peak Distrcict which is close by. This inspired me to continue designing and making in my 'spare' time, and I have made things as diverse as felted pictures and driftwood lights.

A local course in Silversmithing caught my eye, an area of a craftwork in which I have always been interested...I found my training in 3D design invaluable in designing and making jewellery. I then began to set up a workshop in my son's abandoned shed in our garden! This is now a workplace full of treasures where I model in wax and cast tiny animals, shells and insects. I can look out the window for inspiration and see damsel flies on the pond or my pekin bantams Lily and Dotty trundling about! I've not made any pekin inspired pieces yet...but who knows?

Many of my creations are one off pieces using the lost wax process, some are replicated using mould making. Recently I have incorporated sea glass into some of my designs. Much of my work is unique, due to the combination of hand modelling and materials from my collections of sea jewels and treasure.
