Hi, I'm Jo and I live in the beautiful town of Shrewsbury in rural Shropshire.
And before you ask, no we don't all sound like farmers.
I've always been arty and became interested in photography as a teenager. I didn't really treat it as a proper hobby though until I was much older. Now I shoot film and digital and it's this love of analogue photography in particular that sparked my interest in alternative processes like cyanotype.
Although not photography in the way most people know it, it was one of the first ways to create an image.
Cyanotype is a process created in 1842 by Sir John Herschel and to this day uses the same chemicals to create those lovely blue images. As a huge lover of nature, this is the area my work focuses on and I'm always thinking of new ideas, usually inspired by vintage books. I'm lucky enough to have a lovely little studio space in the centre of town which is where I create my work. When I'm not making artwork I'm usually found taking photos, researching some new ideas to try, having a mooch around an antiques market, spending too much money on eBay or staring at my cat wondering how she's so damn beautiful
