I have a regular day job where I do some travel but mainly drive a desk. So making is a hobby to keep me sane. I started by buying a woodworking lathe in 1998 and my love is making wooden pens, and bowls which I do in my shed on warm dry days. I also have a laser engraver, 3d printer, CNC machine and lots of woodworking tools. Initially I made things for friends and family. My wife became a Beaver Scout leader and I am her back office tech support making thinks for Beaver evenings. I then discovered the world of dye cutting with a Cricut Maker, and started on T Shirts, and more. Then more recently a could years ago, I bought a sublimation printer, a mug press, a heat press and started adding photos/text to anything with a layer of polymer. My sublimation history so far is mugs, bookmarks, baby bibs, coasters, T Shirts, Lighters, Bottle Openers, Hi Vis Jackets, Baseball Caps, water bottles, flasks, hoodies, tea towels, dog leads, dog ID tags, key rings, and a cool house sign so Amazon and Etsy delivery people can find us better for all the crafting things I get.
I don't do this for an income. Recently my elder son decided to go on a school trip to Borneo with Camps International in summer 2025 - he will be helping save Orangutangs, build schools and help irrigate farms for a month hat will be a great adventure for him. He has to raise £5000 to cover his flights, stay and the equipment he will use, so instead of getting boring low paid work we are ramping up our crafting activities to sell and all profits from this Folksy site will go to his trip.
