About Working 925 Jewellery

Working 925 Jewellery

Precious nature recreated in Sterling Silver.

All the jewellery you find at Working 925 is designed & made by me, Fran, at my home studio in Cornwall.

I'm a Kentish girl living in Cornwall, and my jewellery journey began at The Kent Institute of Art & Design. It's no longer called that, in fact it's sadly closing its doors (which maybe shows my age), but it was here that I learnt the basis of my trade, and over the years I've honed these traditional silversmithing techniques to create the work you see today.

I haven't always worked in silver. From graduation I landed myself a job working as a fashion jewellery designer. It was during this role that I learned to design with more creative flair. Adding quirk and intrigue to designs became more significant, and I was able to use colour and texture in a way I hadn't before.

At school, long before I realised I wanted to make jewellery, I'd been very much into textile design. Originally I pursued a college course in fashion, so making the transition into the fashion jewellery industry felt completely natural. I was sad to leave it after 8 years, however I had a longing to create something more precious, something less disposable than fashion jewellery.

Which lead me to Working 925 Jewellery. My own brand, created from my desire to make beautiful jewellery that original in its design whilst maintaining functionality and comfort. For me jewellery should to make a statement, but it should feel great on too.

My inspiration is drawn largely from my surroundings & I think it's evident in my collection that I adore Mother Nature. When I'm not at the bench you can find me down by the river, out on the moors or exploring the coastline. It's the most wonderful way to unwind
whilst simultaneously breathing new life into my work through what I see.

But old habits die hard, and occasionally you'll find a more trend led design popping up in the shop. I like to mix it up a bit, and try not to pigeon hole myself solely as nature jewellery designer. I prefer "creative jewellery designer".

Feel free to get in touch if you have any custom design queries, it's a service I'm happy to offer. However lead times to vary, and sometimes they are considerably long. If you have something special in mind for a special occasion, it's best to give plenty of notice - these things can never be started early enough, believe me!

Thanks for visiting.

If you feel you'd like to know more about my process, you can find me on Facebook & Instagram. Failing that, there's good old fashioned conversation, albeit over email - please get in touch.

With Best Wishes,
Fran.
