As a craftsman I love the feel and look of wood. With over 20 years of experience I am able to work with skill and love to create bespoke furniture that will be loved for generations.

Jonathan Porter is the youngest son of a Welsh father and an English mother. Born in East Devon he is equally fierce about being Devonian and Welsh. Jonathan has been married for over 25 years and has a daughter, he still lives in East Devon. Artisan would be the word to describe Jonathan, able to put his hand to anything creative, he is also a fledgling artist but his real love is making furniture.

Born in the mid 1960's Jonathan's first brush with woodworking, like most, was at school. Later in life after being unable to find work in agriculture and a short stint in the shopfitting trade he retrained as a furniture maker. Firstly with a contemporary furniture maker in South Devon; further training in antique replica and reproduction furniture was taken whilst working for an Exeter furniture makers. Other training has included summer schools at Parnham house (John Makepeice school for craftsmen in wood) and at the Rural Development Commission in Salsbury, Hampshire.
