Hello and welcome to Stoosh Jewellery. My name is Andrea and I absolutely love making sterling silver and gemstone jewellery. If that sounds like I’m at an AA meeting then you will understand how I feel about making silver Jewellery.
I have never seen myself as creative, but I have always loved beautiful things and enjoy making. Some years ago I attended some evening courses where I learned a range of traditional silversmithing techniques such as, soldering, saw piercing, metal forming and polishing. I learned how to make a simple pieces of jewellery, bezel set stones, chain making, etching and fold forming. I was hooked!!! I then went on to do the City and Guilds level 1 which I passed with a distinction. Unfortunately this is where my tutoring through adult learning ended. We were told the courses were for beginners only and that we couldn’t attend any more, however, I was hungry to learn more as I enjoyed it so much and had finally found a creative outlet.
I am now part of a small group who make jewellery together one evening a week and occasionally a tutor will come in to teach techniques we are interested in. I also spend a lot of time practising, practising, practising in my home studio, reading about jewellery making techniques and watching you tube video’s and anything else I can do to enhance my silversmithing skills.
I love colour, shape and texture as well as minimalist, simple, and elegant jewellery. Most of what I make is made to order and I love making a range of pieces using a particular technique as you can see from my twisted pieces.
