Socks, the old fashioned way

I knew about sock machines many years ago. They were a big part of East Midlands culture. Over the past year I restored the machine I had in storage for a long time found that it is capable of remarkable results. I hand make socks on the machine to my own designs using the best sock wool. I am currently restoring other machines, as I caught the bug!

Buying from me

Hand cranked sock machines were invented in the 19th century and were used both in homes and factories until the mid 20th century. I now use one to produce hand cranked and hand finished socks. Although using traditional techniques I use modern sock wool - 75% Superwash wool with 25% Nylon. Easy to look after and hard wearing.
