I was taught to sew by my mum as a young child of about 5, and I have been sewing and learning new craft skills ever since. As an adult I have made clothes for myself and my children along with curtains, blinds, quilts and cushions.
My friends and family kept requesting items and suggested I should go into business which is what I did a few years ago in a very small way. I am now doing it full time and have a lovely studio, in the loft of our house.
I am always on the look out for new ideas, and can find inspiration from a variety of things. Collecting fabric is a weakness of mine, as I can always think of something to make and it gets added to my stash for a rainy day.
I have a range of Harris Tweed items such as cushions, wash bags, cosmetic bags, pencil cases and coin purses, I love to work with this beautiful fabric and find it inspirational. I also make a range of personalised items which are embroidered on my dedicated embroidery machine, making unique gifts for people.
I have recently been making cot quilts, making my first one for my nephews little baby boy, I find them a joy to make and love picking out the fabrics knowing they are for a special little person.
Most of my days are spent sewing which I love to do and I very feel privileged to be able to do it.
