Refashioned Remnants aims to embed new life into discarded waste, by using fabrics from recycled sources to create elegant bags that will be cherished for years to come. Thought has been put into both the design and manufacture of each one to attempt to minimise the impact on the environment. I aim to create timeless styles using neutral colour palettes, that will look stylish season after season, year after year, meaning they can be utilised to the fullest.
The fabrics I use include:
• 100% recycled cotton - produced using pre-consumer textile waste. This is waste fabric, fibres and clippings that are generated during the cutting and sewing of a garment.
• Recycled polyester (R-PET) - made from plastic bottle waste.
• Recycled leather - manufactured from discarded offcuts from the manufacture of apparel, shoes, handbags, furniture, etc.
Every bag is sewn by myself in my spare bedroom in the North East of England. My interest in sewing started in 2014 when my mother-in-law gifted me her old sewing machine, which dated back to the 1970’s. When I first received it, I wasn’t sure what to do with it. My original thoughts were to use it to fix hems or make repairs on old clothes. Never did I think it would spark a passion for making or that I would develop a skill that I could use to start my own business.
