Nostalgic yet Timeless; Elegant and Evocative. Hat Pins individually hand-made; from my dining nook overlooking the garden!

Many who knew me were quite shocked when I gave up a successful career some years ago in order to chase my dream of owning a creative business. I'm not a risk-taker; quite the opposite; but to me it didn't feel like a risk. As a naturally creative person, I simply felt a compulsion to work and make my living in the creative sector.

Jointly with a friend, I moved to beautiful Herefordshire and we took over an established local pottery-based business; in which there was also scope for me to co-locate a second, bijou little creative enterprise. I set about searching for the perfect fit; and I found it in "Penny Pins"; then (and still now) the UK's leading and longest-standing wholesale supplier of hand-crafted hat pins.

Set up by two friends in 1990, "Penny Pins" had built up a high-end client base including exclusive milliners, leading department stores, prestigious museums and galleries, and renowned sporting festivals. It was perfect for a quirky creative like me, with a passion for texture, colour, and design. My inner magpie was hooked; I bought the business, added an online retail shop, and found that retail demand quickly took off for my unique hat pins.

14 years later, "Penny Pins" is still going strong; still supplying individually designed and hand-made hat pins. Still using the absolute finest quality English Stainless Steel pins, made exclusively for me; and combining them with other prestigious components such as Swarovski ® crystal beads. I've been doing what my heart & soul had craved for so long; running a business in the creative industries!

In 2022 I'm honoured and delighted to have been commissioned by Rachel Trevor Morgan, favoured milliner of The Queen, to supply the braided ball hat pin worn by Her Majesty on 5th June at the conclusion of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. I'm pleased to offer this very style of hat pin, exactly as worn by The Queen, for sale through my newly-launched Folksy shop; with many more styles to follow.
