Passionate carver and builder of unique and beautiful picture frames!

I originally dealt in antique art and various other antiques. My own passion for art, both antique and contemporary, resulted in finding that I was spending my time seeking out antique art rather than any other type of antique. On more and more occasions, I would find myself buying a rather battered and worn old artwork with a frame that was damaged or often completely falling apart! I did more and more to repair these old frames and, in time, tried my hand at building new frames from scratch. Happily, I had quite a flair for this, and as time passed I refined my technique, studied frame-making and restoration from every book and online source I could, shadowed a good friend who built picture frames and within a year, my frames were being called ‘works of art’ by customers. My love of art came to a head when I attended a lecture by Andrew Graham Dixon and left the lecture determined that I would focus just on art, both antique and contemporary, and immerse myself in this wonderful world! My ethos is that my hand-carved frames should be works of art in their own right, never simply vessels to be filled. The frame should be the ‘best clothes’ of the artwork or photo, presenting it at its most beautiful and achieving the greatest impact. Every frame I make is hand-carved from spruce or redwood and I aspire that my frames should be of a level, that customers should fall I love with them and wish to have them in their home, even if they don’t yet have the artwork to go inside!
