Hello, I’m Nik of Nikola Evfrosine Jewellery and I make modern ethical jewellery. I work with recycled silver, recycled and Fairtrade gold, a little bit of concrete (more about that later) and found objects (think stones and sea glass) to create eye catching, easy-to-wear jewellery that still makes a statement.
I believe that jewellery isn’t just an accessory to an outfit it’s a way of expressing who we are; an expression of love, kindness and fidelity to others in the form of gifts and a way of combining cultural norms with modern design ideas. But then, maybe, I’m a tad obsessed by all things jewellery and adornment ...
I love the natural world and I try to incorporate its forms (or my abstract ideas of them) in my work. If you’re after traditional hearts and flowers you’re in the wrong place but if you love tactile handmade chain, loads of circles and the odd geometric shape then my work is the thing for you!
As well as the natural world I’m a bit of an architecture geek and a massive fan of the brutalist style; both in aesthetics and the social ideals it was created with. As a little homage, I’ve created a collection -Streets in the Sky- which combines silver with concrete as a little play on the idea of how this style of architecture is often thought of as cheap, or lacking in style.
