About Little Meadow

Little Meadow

little things to keep!

How did this all start... I stitched and painted in acrylics, kind of a faux taxidermy. I started to make butterflies brooches and hanging fish. I then found needle felting and started sculpting little animals.

I purchased my first needle felting kit from the states, I was hooked! My husband visited the Shetland Islands and on his return brought back with him some raw Shetland sheep fleeces for me to process and needle felt with, I absolutely loved the quality and wide range of natural colours the sheep come in, needless to say these raw fleeces soon became a felted menagerie of animals.
Since moving to Somerset I have started sourcing my fleeces locally too supporting local sheep keepers! These fleeces are from a variety of sheep breeds.
I also stitch, knit and crochet items to be stuffed using the clean fleece that is not used for felting so nothing goes to waste, some of the fleece is hand dyed by myself too!
