After creating and teaching part time beadwork jewellery, I was fortunate enough to be able to leave my job and study Applied Arts full time.
I loved learning a variety of crafts, especially Textiles, Printmaking and Jewellery Making. I was inspired to combine these crafts to make unique pieces.
I live in the west coast of Scotland and am surrounded by nature. (I live within 2 miles of 5 parks). I am a bit obsessed with sunflowers and the ability of young flower heads to face east at dawn and follow the sun to the west at sunset. They also help to detoxify contaminated soil contributing to cleaning up the environment. Sunflowers always cheer me up and feature a lot in my designs.
I also take inspiration from all aspects of the world around me, especially colour combinations.
Some of my items are one-offs, beads from a broken necklace or spare ones from a pack. I use scraps of fabric and unused clothing to make new items and reduce wastage. My mums button box gives me a variety of shapes & colours.
