Scottish potter inspired by Japanese design

It started with a book about Japanese pottery and some spare time during the summer holidays. I took a lesson in throwing clay on a wheel and I was hooked. Within 6 months I had bought my own wheel and kiln and converted my old utility room into a home studio. I thought my family was just being nice when they kept asking me for pottery pieces so I started an Instagram account to see what people really thought. I was pleasantly surprised by all of the lovely comments I got which gave me the confidence to approach a local craft shop and gallery to see if they would stock some of my work and they agreed. Since then I have been focused on making functional pieces that have a commercial appeal but still keep to my love of simple forms and plain colors. Lots of followers on Instagram have asked if they can buy my work so I have opened up this Folksy shop to make that possible. A trip to Scotland isn't always the easiest option!

Buying from me

Handmade ceramic objects thrown on a wheel using British clay from Stoke on Trent . Hand finished and glazed with food safe glazes. Every piece is unique. Requests for different shapes and colourways welcome . Priced reasonably to cover the costs of materials and making. I dont add a premium for handmaking.
