Hi! I fell in love with clay on my degree course and haven't stopped messing about with the stuff since then (way back in 1995!!). I attended an open access pottery studio in Oxford, once a week for around five years. I helped out running the space and as a thank you they gave me a little kiln which I still use to this day.
Fast forward a few (!) years and two children later, I am happily working in a wonderful studio on the Welbeck Estate, near the Harley Gallery. It's a magical place to work and be inspired.
I am very inspired by nature. I grew up on a farm in the Ribble Valley and still miss the woodland and the river where we lived. My Mum inspired me too. She taught me to sew, taught me a love of craft and making things with my hand that I will be forever grateful for.
I make sculptural ceramics using black and coloured clays. These pieces aren't glazed so that the true quality of the clay itself can shine through. I don't use many tools - mainly my hands and use a variety of different making methods from slab building to pinching and coiling.
