My items are not intended for use as toys and do not comply with toy safety standards. As such my items are not recommended for those under the age of 14 years. I create heirloom style bears and other creatures from luxury mohair, faux fur and up-cycled fabrics

Hi I’m Julie and welcome to Julie’s Bear Studio. I started creating bears as gifts after attending an heirloom bear making course held at my local haberdashery in 2016, then in 2018 I decided to take the plunge and create Julie’s Bear Studio so I could share my creations.

Despite having only made bears for a few short years, I have been sewing since I was a child after learning to make my own toys on a trusty vintage hand crank machine, before focusing on embroidery during my teens. After over 15 years of embroidering I have come full circle back to making heirloom bears and other creatures on a vintage hand-crank sewing machine.

In addition to heirloom bears, I also create bunnies, mice, dogs, elephants and more. Each one is made from luxury mohair, alpaca or acrylic and up-cycled faux furs. Every individual piece is tacked by hand before being double sewn. Each bear (or creature) is finished with glass eyes, hand placed ears, a needle felted nose and an embroidered expression to bring them to life.
