Goji Berry Bags and Crafts

Practical and useful bags that are colourful, stylish and fun to use!

Welcome to GojiBerry Bags, quality handmade bags featuring practical, popular designs, with a cheerful twist of colour and style.

I’ve been a creative all my life, hand sewing from a very young age. My mum was a keen dressmaker with a big suitcase full of remnants from her own creations, and I remember diving into this varied collection of fabrics, picking out contrasting colours and then cutting and sewing pieces together (often adding trimmings found in another one of her boxes), to make dressing-up items for myself – I felt so grown up! As I grew older, she taught me how to use patterns, transfer their information onto the fabrics and cut them out. Then, when I became sufficiently accomplished, I was given permission to use her ‘state of the art’ electric Singer sewing machine (very vintage now, but a fine machine back then!). So, sewing has been a part of life and as with all things, I’ve dipped in and out depending on time and family commitments.

Sewing is just one of my passions however as I regard myself as a fabric artist, not just a sewist. I also weave (picture weaving and scarfs - see my other shop on Folksy - Maryanne's Woven Home), create macrame wall hangings, enjoy knitting, crochet, embroidery, tapestry and even tatting (I have my Dad to thank for teaching me that last one!). Although bags are a new passion for me on this creative adventure, I am so enjoying it. There is so much pleasure in creating something that at its most basic level is practical and useful, but can be turned into something that is also colourful, stylish and fun to use!
