Hello! I’m Sam, the face, hands, and heart behind Express Yourself With a Candle.

The story of my business is deeply tied to my journey as a mum. A few years ago, my family and I were living overseas for my husband's work. It was an incredible experience, but when the pandemic hit, everything became uncertain. We ended up staying an extra year abroad until things calmed down, and during that time, I gave birth to my son. Returning home to the UK meant starting over professionally, and soon after, I fell pregnant with my daughter.

Navigating all of these massive life changes and isolation was incredibly difficult, and I struggled deeply with my emotional and mental health, turning to counseling for support. It wasn’t until after my daughter was born that I finally started to feel like my old self again. That was the moment a spark hit me: I wanted to start a business that could bring positive emotions, comfort, and support to others who might be going through their own dark or overwhelming times.

My business has been a beautiful journey of development. My original concept started with putting stickers on glass, but I wanted a more premium, heartfelt finish, which led me to teach myself the art of hand-engraving. To complement my motivational candles, I expanded into crafting unique wax melts, burners, and hand-poured lotus tealight holders.

Working around a busy home life with two small children is a daily juggling act, but with my husband's wonderful support, I am pouring immense love into every single piece. Every item is crafted with the hope of bringing a little bit of joy, light, and a reminder of your own strength into your home. Thank you so much for supporting my small business dream!
