About Crystaltipsie

Crystaltipsie

Designer and creator of unique and unusual jewellery using quality materials including semi-precious stones, pearls, crystals and silver.

I started making jewellery as a teenager. I always love to have something different and dislike going out and seeing someone wearing the same clothes. I am not a follower of fashion as I like to be unique and enjoy creating my own look. I also think it is worth taking the time to find quality items that haven't been mass produced.

I enjoy using natural materials and am very interested in crystals and gemstones. I am fascinated by their healing properties and this interest was sparked when I bought a copper bangle to wear to help my occasional rheumatism flare ups. I also took Geology 'O' Level at school and enjoyed finding out about how the earth creates things over millions of years.

I was made redundant in September 2015 and, after being put through an unfair and vicious redundancy process, I was frazzled, quite depressed and needed to take a step back from the corporate nonsense I had become inadvertently embroiled in. I could not envisage working for anyone ever again at that point and felt unemployable. I had lost all confidence in my ability to do anything and so I began making jewellery as part of my healing process. As I started to slowly recover, it was then I decided to try making jewellery for a living instead of just a hobby. I felt it was probably the only opportunity I would ever have to do this and so I invested my redundancy money in getting myself up and running. The more I made jewellery and handled the gemstone beads I was working with, the better I began to feel.

I live in a small town at the foot of the pennines. I am surrounded by beautiful countryside including hills and moorland. When I am not making jewellery, I am out walking with my husband. We are both keen photographers and enjoy the outdoors and love nature and wildlife. We have a small garden overlooking the canal and, during the summer, we spend more of our time outside than in.

I work from home and, whilst I only have a small space to work in, everything is neatly organised as I cannot work in any kind of mess. I have researched everything I am now doing very carefully to ensure that I provide a quality service to go with my beautiful jewellery. I pride myself on having lots of happy and repeat customers. I am often contacted to make bespoke items and am happy to take as much time as is needed to ensure a customer gets exactly what they want.

I set up my Folksy shop quite a while ago now but didn't really explore its full potential so I have decided to come back to it and give it a try. I do hope you will enjoy looking at my online shop and products.
