About Cobweb & co

Cobweb & co

Botanical Jewellery & Metal Arts

Hello, I am Laura and I am the designer, maker, marketing department, post lady, tea boy, etc etc for my small business Cobweb and Co. The jewellery I produce is inspired by the countryside, it’s one of a kind and its handmade with love. Each piece is made to order and so no two pieces are the same, making your jewellery totally unique to you with no one else in the world owning one like it. My designs are a celebration of the quiet moments in the British countryside; birds before dusk, rustling leaves, wildlife just out of sight to us and the secret world we all walk by every day but often don't notice or get to enjoy. To do this I use stunning, natural gemstones and different textures and patina with sterling silver. I also love adding a personal touch to jewellery; names, hidden messages, whatever takes your fancy.
I started up my life in the jewellery industry by dropping out of my Fine Art BA two days before the course started, possibly not a great start to my career but I felt I needed a little time for a think. To fill my time I found a work experience placement at a jewellery casting company which, after two weeks, turned into an actual job and a year later led to me enrolling on (and then graduating from) a Jewellery Design Degree. After what felt close to 100 years being side tracked by a job to pay the bills I finally decided enough was enough and I created Cobweb and Co, named after our childhood pet lurcher Cobweb and the hoard of terriers that accompanied her.
My designs are a reflection of memories growing up in the countryside, the hedgerows my sister and I explored, the birds we chased and the poor toads and newts we caught and harassed but the absolute number one reason for my business is my wild, fearless and utterly adorable, nearly 7 year old daughter. She wants a home with a "proper" garden to run in and I want her to be proud of me (and I also want a home with a proper garden for her to run in). You never know, if I'm successful enough I may even buy a dishwasher for my hubby to be, because apparently washing up isn't his hobby, who knew?!
So if natural, earthy styles with a little hint of vintage is your thing then please browse my shop... and if it isn't then please browse anyway just incase. I am also happy to take on commissions so if you have an idea you would like to discuss you are always welcome to drop me a message and we can discuss making your vision a reality.
