Welcome to Broderie Bouquet.

I love all kinds of hand (and machine, sometimes!) sewing and embellishing. I am inspired by the natural world, the work of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, interesting architecture, kitschy mid-century design and Leonard Cohen. When writing my PhD I found solace from stress in the repetitive work of embroidery, and it is a habit I have continued.

A bright attic room is my current workspace, and it is always in a state of organised chaos. Before coronavirus I used to stitch everywhere - on the train on the way to teaching undergraduate lectures, on planes on the way to and from research trips, sitting in coffee shops, waiting rooms and on buses. I miss this but have found that working inside has its own advantages - it is much harder to lose things!

I embroider anything that sits still long enough and have been stitching and sewing for around twenty years. My father worked in textiles and I am related to the Leicester Corah hosiers through my mother's side, so this sort of thing is in my blood.
