I love to source unusual and eye catching fabrics to create different styles of bags and soft furnishings using my own designs and patterns

My love for sewing happened by accident. About 25 years ago when we bought our first home money was in short supply so to save money I taught myself to make soft furnishings for the home. I borrowed every book in the library (this was pre internet) and taught myself to sew from the very beginning. I quickly realised that this was something I enjoyed and haven't looked back. Over the years they have been many successes alongside some disasters, but this is how I've learnt.

I have branched out into other areas including bags, which I love designing and making. I use all my own patterns. I still make things around the home and am constantly making new curtains and blinds. I have a much bigger house with a lot of windows that need dressing.

After a lot of encouragement from family and friends I decided to take the plunge and branch out into a business venture, i have had a lot of positive response and am very meticulous with my work. I have a variety of items listed but also do a lot of custom orders. I work from home in my sewing room, which i'm aware is a luxury. My cockapoo lies on my feet as I'm sewing, sometimes she rests on the foot pedal of my sewing machine which makes me jump out of my skin. As you've probably guessed her name is Bella and that is where the inspiration for my shop name came from, Bellas Sewing Room x
