This razor has an Edwardian look to it, but takes modern Mach3 triple blade cartridges, so ideal for a modern shave!
I've made this one a little more chunky than usual, with a shorter glass stem. The end of the razor has heavy metal finials, and in the centre I've fixed a colourful glass centre piece which was made entirely by hand. There are lots of bands of colours inside it, from swirling metallic sea-greens, to rich cobalt blues, yellows and orange reds too. The glass is 60mm long, and including the replaceable cartridge the razor is 130mm long.
The whole razor can be unscrewed for easy cleaning and maintenance, and even the glass centre can be carefully slid off and washed out as needed. I understand it will also fit Venus cartridges too if you would prefer to use it as a ladies razor instead!
I formed the handle by melting glass directly inside a superhot oxygen/propane flame, then annealed it in a microprocessor controlled kiln to improve toughness. However it is glass so should be treated with care, and then it will last a lifetime.
The glass is entirely hand formed so no two handles will ever be the same! The glass used is borosilicate, which is often known by the 'Pyrex' trade name, and so is tough and hardwearing.
