Black & White Menzies Tartan Ruffle Black Lace Regency Ribbons Hair Clip

A beautifully unusual Regency-inspired Menzies black & white tartan hair adornment, combining Scottish tartan with elegant trailing ribbons, black lace and a sparkling jet crystal bead centre. The Highland Belle is part of my collection of unusual historical and Regency-inspired hair accessories, taking inspiration from the elaborate ribbons, textile embellishments and richly decorated hairstyles of the Regency period, with a darker Scottish and gothic influence. The Menzies tartan ribbon is gathered into a ruffle and backed with a larger ruffle of black lace fabric. At the centre is a cluster of shimmering jet black glass crystal beads and a pearl, adding a touch of dark sparkle. Long trailing ribbons in coordinating black satin and velvet and white shoestring ribbon flow from the piece, creating the elegant elongated silhouette associated with Regency hair adornments. Attached to a small 46mm hair clip, it can be easily secured into an updo, bun or swept-back hairstyle. I think it looks particularly lovely worn towards the side or back of the head, with the ribbons allowed to fall naturally through the hair.
